Lime basilrita

The fresh basil in my garden was begging to jump into some tequila so I made these today.

1.5 oz good tequila

1 oz cointreau or orange liqueur

1 oz fresh lime juice

4 fresh basil leaves

optional- 1/4 oz agave syrup (I used it today, depends on my mood)

Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, muddle up a little bit, toss in 5 ice cubes and shake hard. Strain and pour over ice!

Frozen Mojito

Ahhhh, summer in Nova Scotia. It can’t be beat really. But it can be improved with a few of these amazingly delicious treats.

Typically I prefer a more traditional drink but these are so easy when you have company and people love them.

  • 1¬†can of frozen lime minute maid margarita mix from¬†frozen juice section
  • 6 shots(oz) light rum
  • 2 shots(oz) dark rum
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 18-20 ice cubes plus enough water to blend
  • a few drops of Angostura bitters to float on top if desired

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Pulse, then blend on high until lime-mint slush is smooth. Pour and enjoy!
